We shot this on a Sony A7S III with an anamorphic adapter (1.33x squeeze) to get that cinematic 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Video Recap of December 3rd Awaken the Creator Within On December 3rd, we gathered for a genuinely fun and meaningful night of local cinema, screening seven short films made by creators from our region and sharing the experience together on the big screen at Sudbury Indie Cinema. The room was full of energy, curiosity, and support, the kind that only happens when filmmakers and audiences are in the same space, watching stories that come from familiar places and lived experien

Mathieu Séguin joined Radio-Canada’s Daniel Aubin to talk about the growing momentum behind SCRIPTFESTtm, the power of telling Northern Ontario stories, and how a supportive creative community is building a new local film industry. The discussion highlighted why ScriptFest matters now more than ever and how filmmakers of all levels can be part of the movement.

SCRIPTFESTtm Season 2 brought local filmmakers together to pitch, develop, and produce four new short films. Over six pitch sessions, 34 ideas were presented, four were selected, and all were successfully produced with the support of our community and sponsors. The films are now in post production as we continue building a sustainable film ecosystem in Northern Ontario.

After Season 2, the Scriptfest crew carried their momentum into professional film sets, earning more than 40 days of paid work and helping power the feature film StarSuckers, directed by the Butler Bros. Scriptfest gave them the skills, chemistry, and confidence to step onto a twelve day feature shoot as a fully trained team.

Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival has always been a landmark event for Northern Ontario. This year, Scriptfest enters the festival with a sense of pride and momentum that has been building for years.
