SCRIPTFESTtm Season 2: From Pitches to Production

ree

Season 2 of SCRIPTFESTtm grew into something much bigger than a writing program. It became a full creative pipeline that took ideas from the page all the way to the screen, powered entirely by local filmmakers.

Between November 2024 and January 2025, we hosted six pitch sessions at the Sudbury Indie Cinema. Over those weeks, 34 ideas were pitched. The community voted, narrowing the list to six finalists. Those six were then presented to our five official SCRIPTFESTtm judges, who selected the four projects that would move into production.

The selected films were:

Its March 17th and I’m Still in Love with You

Nightstands

Squirrel Diaries

A Day Early

Once the dates were chosen, each team was given six weeks of preproduction and a three day shoot. That structure kicked off the season and set a clear path forward. The result speaks for itself. All four films were successfully produced and are now in post production.

This entire season was made possible through the support of our incredible sponsors: Sunbelt Rentals, Canada Film Equipment, Ontario Camera, and the City of Greater Sudbury. Their contributions gave our filmmakers access to the tools and resources needed to bring these stories to life.

Season 2 strengthened our belief that a sustainable film ecosystem can grow right here when the community works together. The films are now in post, and the momentum is only building.

More updates soon.
